We reach threatened or injured journalists with urgent help: treatment, evacuation, equipment and support for their families.
We started in Palestine, where the world records the gravest violations against journalists, to build a protection network that reaches every journalist at risk, wherever they are.
Since October 2023 more journalists have been killed in Gaza than in any war the Committee to Protect Journalists has documented since 1992. Here journalists learned to work under bombardment, siege and blackouts, and here we learned what a journalist actually needs in the most dangerous moments. We bring that experience to journalists everywhere: in Lebanon, Sudan, Ukraine, Mexico and beyond.
A world where every journalist works in safety, and no crime against them goes unpunished.
To be a shield for journalists: we reach them in the hour of danger, stand with them in court, and preserve the truth they paid for.
We reach threatened or injured journalists with urgent help: treatment, evacuation, equipment and support for their families.
We provide protective equipment and train journalists in field safety, digital security and first aid.
We record and verify every violation against journalists, whoever commits it.
We build documented legal files for international mechanisms and call publicly for perpetrators to answer for their crimes.
We belong to no party, government or political body, and no funder influences what we document or publish.
We publish an annual report of everything we receive and spend, and name our funders.
A board of trustees oversees our work and approves our budget; its members are listed on our team page.
